About Reflexology. Adult Feet 4

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient natural therapy, which uses subtle energies of the feet to balance and harmonise, so that health and well being can be attained and maintained.

All the internal body structures and organs are mapped or mirrored in miniature on the feet and by using specific techniques of holds and pressures on these areas, healing is both initiated and accelerated in the corresponding area of the body.

The feet are divided into ten equal and vertical zones and when pressure is applied on one part of a zone, it can affect other areas and organs in the same zone.

Initial treatment takes about 1½ hours, allowing time for a consultation and all subsequent treatments are approximately 1 hour. The consultation is very important, as this is part of the holistic nature of the treatment, taking into account the mind, body and spirit.

Maternity Reflexology

Maternity Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and nurturing therapy, helping women with conception, pregnancy and the postnatal period. It is an area in which I have had additional training in and have had experience in. It is a wonderful area to work in and I really enjoy seeing my clients become pregnant and their bumps growing.

If you are planning on conceiving or are having difficulites becoming pregnant, reflexology is a very natural and relaxing treatment to help bring your body into balance to welcome a new life.

During pregnancy your body goes through many changes as the baby grows and develops, reflexology can help support those changes and also some of the common symptons that can occurr, such as morning sickness, tiredness, heartburn, constipation, difficulty sleeping, fluid retension, pelvic & groin pain. The treatment can provide time for you (and your baby) to be cared for, without the demaands of every day life.

When "Labour" day approaches there are specific techniques that can be used to help bring on labour, they may stimulate the necessary hormones and the reproductive system to start labour. These can only be used once you are full term and your body will only go into labour when it's ready to give birth.

A post natal treatment can help to restore balance and harmony as you recover from the birth and allows you some quiet time to restore your strength and discuss your expereinces and any emotional and physical changes your are going through.

Hot Stone Reflexology

Hot Stone Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and warming treatment using igneous stones formed by volcanic lava. It combines the traditional techniques using the fingers with the use of hot or warm stones to massage the lower legs and feet and stimulate reflex points on the feet. The result is extremely relaxing, deeply rejuvenating and brings a feeling of harmony to the body and mind.
The stones used are Basalt, a type of igneous rock which has been formed from the molten lava cooled following a volcanic eruption, these stones have then been polished enabling a smooth massage.
Hot stone Reflexology is different from a traditional reflexology treatment because continual contact with the client cannot be maintained because the stones being used need to be continually swapped with new stones from the heater, therefore achieving continual temperature.
